Police crack alleged drug cartel after ‘discovering 120kg of cocaine in frozen rooster’

Police allege they discovered 120kg of cocaine hidden inside a lorry of frozen rooster that was transported from Melbourne to Sydney on August 24.

The 23-year-old lorry driver was arrested and charged with trafficking in giant portions of cocaine with a most penalty of life in jail.

One other 50kg of cocaine was later discovered within the suburb of Cairnlea in Melbourne’s north-west on 19 October.

Police then searched a “drug protected home” in Melbourne, the place they reported discovering a further 285 kilograms of methamphetamine and 15 kilograms of cocaine.

Police executed additional search warrants within the Melbourne suburbs of Windsor, Southbank and Keysborough yesterday and arrested a 42-year-old Windsor man.

He trafficked in giant portions of methamphetamine and cocaine, which carries a most penalty of life in jail.

Police accused him of being a “key member” of the drug syndicate.

The investigation has been carried out in collaboration with AFP, Victoria Police, the Australian Border Pressure, the Division of Residence Affairs and the Australian Legal Intelligence Fee.

AFP Commander Raegan Stewart stated police had not completed investigating the prison group.

He stated police consider the group is “skilled, well-resourced and well-versed of their unlawful commerce”.
