Constance Watcho’s dying is unspeakable, but it is not listed as a murder


Tarita Fisher had a horrible, sinking feeling within the pit of her abdomen.

Within the closing months of 2017, her sister-in-law Constance Watcho had gone quiet.

No-one had seen or heard from her in weeks — not her children, her brothers or anybody in her giant household community throughout Brisbane and central Queensland.

Constance, or Connie as she was affectionately identified, was a humorous, strong-willed and loving mother-of-10, says Tarita.

The 36-year-old had been dwelling in Brisbane for the previous few years and had had a troublesome life, however her disappearance was utterly out of character.

“For her to be vanished — she simply vanished — that is not Constance. It isn’t Constance,” Tarita says.

“I mentioned to considered one of [her] brothers on the time, I mentioned, ‘Look, that is uncommon. She must be listed as a lacking particular person. This is not regular.'”

Her brothers and considered one of her teenage sons made the journey from their small, neighbouring communities of Cherbourg and Murgon right down to Brisbane to seek for her.

The Coroners Courtroom would later hear that simply two days after her household went to police, officers had assessed Constance’s case as “medium-risk”.
